I was gifted a small orchid on my birthday a couple years ago. As we were celebrating, it got bumped from the counter and the stem broke. It looked hopeless that a recovery was possible, but I kept her and gave her a window spot to enjoy. Months later, she grew a secondary branch off the broken one and produced the most beautiful fuchsia flowers. This year, she grew another branch from the bottom and is almost ready to bloom. I named her Orcheena, and she reminds me that even our smallest actions make a difference and ripple further than we can imagine.
Our Offerings
There is chaos and anxiety
Tensions on this land
Cruelty and divisiveness
Which are hard to understand-
But there is also kindness
There is beauty, there is hope
Flowers that are blooming
And love to help us cope-
So we have an opportunity
To do the work of healing
And help each other navigate
The hurt that we are feeling-
Through action and compassion
Through offering our gifts
And standing up for truth and peace
For this world to make a shift~

My violet is also a recovered violet....she reminds me of persistence and love in this 3rd year of her blooming.
